The Rome and Lazio Food Hub conducted the third event in the ongoing series titled “The Ethics of Communication for the Transition towards Healthier and More Sustainable Eating Styles.”
This workshop brought a specific focus on the intricate world of food labels, with Professor Simona Castaldi alongside food label experts Romualdo Lodovici and William Loria leading the discussions.
The dialogue centered around understanding how food labels can be effectively utilized to guide consumers towards healthier and more sustainable choices. This is crucial in an era where food choices are not just personal decisions but also a reflection of our collective responsibility towards health and sustainability.
One of the key takeaways from the workshop was the identification of barriers that currently hinder the effectiveness of food labels. These include complexities in label design, consumer understanding, and regulatory frameworks. However, the event was not just about identifying challenges; it also highlighted numerous opportunities for improvement and innovation in food labeling.
The workshop’s findings are relevant for the Work Package 5 (WP5) and the Work Package 2 (WP2) for the research work on labels.”
