SWITCH at the New York Climate Week

October 3, New York – Last week, Virginia Cepollina from the Future Food Institute brought the SWITCH project to the Climate Justice Forum hosted by Columbia University. The event provided an important space for dialogue, reflection, and the exchange of ideas on how to accelerate a just and inclusive transition in the face of the climate crisis.

During the session, particular emphasis was placed on the work of the SWITCH Food Hubs—each one rooted in its own local context, with distinct challenges and priorities, yet united by a shared mission: driving systemic change toward more sustainable, resilient, and equitable food systems across Europe.

Virginia presented SWITCH’s vision and the progress made so far, highlighting how the project goes beyond delivering data and strategies. SWITCH offers a practical blueprint for collaboration—showing how academia, institutions, and communities can work together to accelerate climate action while ensuring equity and inclusivity remain at the centre of the transition.

This event was organized as side event during New York Climate Week. We are proud to see this collaborative journey gaining international recognition and contributing to a growing global movement for climate justice and food system transformation.
