Building Sustainable School Menus That Tell a Story

December 5, 2024 – Sardinia. The SWITCH project is working to create sustainable school menus that celebrate the origin of ingredients and highlight local food production in Sardinia. This initiative focuses on the territories of Capoterra, Iglesiente, Linas, and Sulcis, with the goal of connecting students to the rich food heritage of their region.

Through a series of meetings, the project has achieved key milestones:

  • September 19, 2024: The SWITCH project was presented, a working group was established, and the objectives were shared.
  • October 11, 2024: Participants decided to develop guidelines for school catering that emphasize local ingredients and food production.
  • December 5, 2024: The menu guidelines were structured, and essential elements were defined to ensure the menus reflect the unique culinary traditions of Sardinia.

This collaboration lays the groundwork for sustainable school catering that educates students about the importance of local food systems and sustainable choices.
