29 March, Rome – On the occasion of Roma Capitale’s Domenica Ecologica hosted at Parco di San Sisto, Food Hub Rome celebrated a new stage of the SWITCH Marathon 2026, marking a key moment in the journey toward more sustainable food systems.
The event highlighted the joint commitment of institutions, communities, and local stakeholders. Sabrina Alfonsi, Councillor for Agriculture, Environment, and Waste Management, officially signed the SWITCH Manifesto as a policymaker, affirming Rome’s continued engagement in fostering ecological transition.
Farmers’ markets and Coldiretti Roma, fellow signatories of the Manifesto, joined the celebration alongside chefs and students from local hospitality institutes. At the stand dedicated to the Rome Hub and Lazio Region, they engaged visitors with anti-waste cooking shows, presenting creative, healthy, and sustainable recipes that demonstrated how food innovation can start from everyday choices.
Citizens explored innovative tools developed within the SWITCH project, including MyFreshFood, the Digital Hub Experience, and the SmartCounter for participatory data collection—learning firsthand how technology can empower more conscious consumption.
It was a vibrant and collaborative day that reflected Rome’s determination to be a living laboratory for sustainable food transition, where education, innovation, and policy meet to inspire change.
